For many people, overcoming mental health struggles or substance use disorders requires a customized, therapeutic approach, but financial limitations and a lack of local resources can make recovery seem out of reach. This month BE-OK is spotlighting a community partner hoping to change things for the better: the **SunRISE Center**. Created by the local non-profit Feed My Sheep, the SunRISE Center is a dedicated mental health and addiction recovery facility focused entirely on providing barrier-free support, counseling, and community to those who need it most. ## **How the SunRISE Center Began** [The SunRISE Center](https://www.feedmysheeptemple.org/sunrisecenter) was born out of a direct need voiced by the local community. In the fall of 2022, Feed My Sheep conducted a survey among the individuals they serve to determine the necessity of a dedicated mental health facility. The results were staggering: **96.2% of respondents recognized they were facing some sort of mental or emotional health challenge.** Furthermore, 85.8% stated they would utilize an easily accessible facility if mental health services were offered. Listening to this overwhelming call for help, the organization took action. They established the SunRISE Center at 501 S. 3rd Street in Temple to serve as a calming, accessible environment where anyone can walk in and be told, *"You are safe right now and right here."* | ![SunRISE-Center-Photos](https://be-ok.net/hs-fs/hubfs/SunRISE-Center-Photos.png?width=550&height=874&name=SunRISE-Center-Photos.png) | ## **A Mission Rooted in Safety and Dignity** The core mission of the SunRISE Center is to empower individuals to find dignity, rebuild their self-worth, and establish a true sense of community. The center's focus, embedded in the "RISE" of its name, is dedicated to: - **R**educe death by suicide and overdose - **I**nvite to the Gospel community - **S**afe in mind and body, and - **E**ncourage sober living By treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms of their struggles, the center bridges the gap between isolation and recovery. | | --- | --- | ## **Programs and Support Groups** Through partnerships with licensed volunteer counselors, therapists, and trained community volunteers, the SunRISE Center offers an impressive array of services. Most importantly, **all programs are offered completely free of charge** to those who need them.
